The Cloth

This edition of the Driggs is cut from Bonneville 8, a waxed cotton made by British Millerain in Rochdale, England. British Millerain has made waxed cotton since 1880 and is still run by the Miller family. The mill moved waxed cloth from the older linseed-oil method to paraffin-based waxes, improving weather resistance and breathability, and that is the basis of waxed cotton outerwear as it is made today. The mill still builds much of its own machinery and runs a waterless waxing process.

Bonneville is British Millerain's modern waxed cotton. Where traditional waxed cloth has a heavy, tacky hand and a dull surface, Bonneville is finished cleaner, with a low lustre and a drier feel, while keeping the weather protection of a fully waxed cotton. The wax is worked into the cotton yarns rather than laid over the surface as a synthetic coating, so the fabric breathes and can be rewaxed indefinitely instead of wearing out.

Why It's a Special Edition

We have wanted to use this fabric for a long time, and we love the way it turned out. This run is limited. Once it sells through, we can't promise we'll be able to make the green Driggs again.

The Jacket

The fit is slim, cut to wear over a t-shirt with enough room to layer into fall and winter. Back gussets give full range of motion in the saddle. All armor pockets are external and accessible, so you can pull the jacket on and off without digging for hardware.

Care

Do not machine wash or dry clean. Brush off dirt once dry and sponge with cold water if needed. Rewax as the finish wears, typically once a season with regular riding, to maintain weatherproofing. Creasing and fading at wear points are normal and part of the jacket's character.
